Lu's Sandwiches

Incredible banh mi...my first one. I took my three college age kids while on a tour of the city. Two of them loved it like me, the third didn't care for it so we ate hers. I guess it's not for everyone, but I'd return for sure. The restaurant was very very busy at lunchtime on a workday with local traffic. Very nice employees as well.

The sandwich and food is on point, probably best in MN, however the restaurant itself is run down. Every time I go in and come out, I feel like I need a shower. Their online ordering works 1-2 days out the week if lucky. Also they change their size now. The make their medium sandwich size and their large sandwich has become their previous size medium. Good but could be great.

We shared a Meatball & Grilled Pork Bahn Mi, & they were delicious! That bread is absolutely perfect! Not sure who helped us (she has pink hair, and a hat with lots of buttons and patches on it) but she was very nice. I asked her to make the sandwiches to her recommendations and I’m glad I did! Fantastic!

I can't event explain how much I love this place! Mock duck, veggie egg rolls and you can have your meal as a traditional sandwich OR noodle bowl. YUM!

The Chicken Banh Mi, made with the usual cilantro and other vegetables, plus mayonnaise and pate, was a gooey greasy mess, and absolutely delicious. My wife had the pork version and it was similarly wonderful.Even the Spring Rolls (too often light on shrimp and heavy on noodle filler) were top notch. LOTS of shrimp, thinly sliced pork, fresh green cilantro, sliced carrots, noodles. And plenty of peanut dipping sauce. The place is a tiny hole in the wall that you must try. (Or order via Bitesquad, etc.)

They offer a variety of sandwiches to choose from. You can even order a small or large. This place is unique from most other banh mi places. It allows the customer to select the ingredients in their banh mi. Bread was soft and eat to bite into!

My fiancé and I came here for the first time. We are big fans of Bahn Mi and wanted to try this place out! I ordered The pork and my fiancé ordered the curry tofu. We also ordered the crispy rolls along with bubble tea. Everything was very delicious! They also have noodle bowls there which looked amazing also! The staff was friendly and we received our food without waiting too long. We would recommend this to a friend and will be coming back for more!

Great sandwiches. Service is fast and friendly. They are usually very busy due to popularity, but totally worth it. Egg rolls are super crispy and good.

Best bahn mi if you can tolerate whichever pretentious MCAD student they decided to hire for the register. I’ll probably never go back which is unfortunate. It was awesome before they hired out.

Loved that the bread wasn't hard like most banh mi's that I've had. Quick service! Flavor is amazing!

Cozy atmosphere with a straightforward menu. Tasty food.

It was my first time. The veggies that are put on the sandwich are extremely fresh. The lady was so nice to let me try some of the different meats. Before I actually made my decision.

We bought some Bánh mì, spring rolls, and shrimp rolls on our way to the Minneapolis airport. The service speed was moderate. Staffs are friendly. Price is acceptable. The taste - Bánh mì was pretty good but the rolls were just OK. The skin of the shrimp roll was somehow too chewy....

Great sandwich. The bread is amazing. So soft and flavorful. Everything about the sandwich is great except I think the vegetables were missing some of that pickled flavor. It was barely there. The only other thing that I didn't like was that they had a minimum of 4 items per order. I thought that was kind of weird if you're coming for one sandwich. Also, try the sesame balls. They are great!

Great food, but if you ask if their sandwiches are vegan, you get a different answer depending on whose working.

I was looking for a bun mi sandwich and my favorite places were closed and other didn’t have any? I had passed Lu’s sandwich shop and few people go inside. So I gave it a try. Grilled pork loaded. Bread was great sandwich was so good I’m going back for more, best one so far in mn

Excellent sandwich! My scoring schema does not allow 5 Stars to establishments that don't offer table service. Soda machine was out of ice but the mix and temp was good. I would not hesitate to return.

I got the pork sandwich with everything, I was very impressed it was delicious. It is full of flavor and has different toppings from a normal sandwich. I'm going to eat there more often

A community institution. If you don't know what to get just try something new. A classic is the pork and chicken satay. You want to order it with everything. All the fresh ingredients. A small is a great serving size.

Best banh mi I’ve ever had! The tofu is to die for! The bread is just like crusty French bread. Amazing.

Favorite place to get a Bahn Mi sandwich. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the bread; it's flaky, crunchy, light! I love the location and staff are always friendly!

LOVE Lu's!! They have a few locations, but I believe this one is the original. They have the best bahn mi's in town, by far. Vegan and vegetarian friendly too!

I had the chicken satay salad bowl. It comes with an egg roll. The egg roll and chicken were both awesome and the sauce was delicious

Amazing banh mi, we are visiting from out of town and I'm so glad we tried this place!! I love banh mi's, used to live out on the east coast and this is one of the best (if not the best) I've ever had. Bread is perfect, I got the grilled pork and it was so delicious! This is half of a large, I could easily eat a large by myself if i was hungry. Get it with the Mayo and pork pate, plus all the veggies, can't recommend enough!

I always get the curry tofu banh mi. It's very tasty. I typically find that a small is big enough for me. If I'm feeling super hungry I get a small and a side order of spring rolls.

I think that this might be one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. How did I not know about this sandwich till now. I have been missing out. Excellent flavor, texture and freshness. Get a grilled meat sandwich with everything.

Love their bahn mi sandwiches; perfectly pickled veggies and rich meats (or Tofu!) balance the flavor profile really well. Their Vietnamese iced coffee also makes the best compliment to a sunny summer study sesh.

The bahn mi sandwiches are delicious, their egg rolls are even better. Love the food even though I've only been a few times.

$5 for a classic Vietnamese cold cut banh mi, exactly like you'd expect it -- with the yolk mayo and duck liver paste.

Great spot to get some Banh-Mi !! I just wish it would close a bit later! However, the sandwiches are amazing with reasonable prices! Parking can be a hassle if busy

So good! Especially appreciate the non-meat options. Small hole-in-wall sandwich and rice bowl limited menu lunch spot. A dozon or so indoor places to sit with a couple of front sidewalk tables. Parking in the rear is tough sometimes, but worth the lines. Bread brings me back to France and the marinades are wonderfully savory.

Great Banh Mi at a no frills walk up counter restaurant with limited seating. Bread is always fresh with just enough chew.
